Utilitarian

Worked on this one the past few days using techiniques I normally don't use. It was quite fun.

Wow, this is really good. It is just different enough and artsy and funky.

I like this a lot. Lots of lovely subtle shifts in colour and tone. You say that you use techniques that you don't usually but dont say what they are. Any clues?

Friend Bill, this technique and that of the urban landscape I like more, that the used one with the spatula.
The spatula is a tool that has fili, and if has edge he may "to cut".
Regards.

Bill, I like, but I am a sucker for this type of composition-rectangles, planes, line, cubes with limited color and I think you have pulled it off quite well. Always glad to see you stretching your artistic muscle by continuing to explore. Your plein air, palette knife and this piece show a lot of artistic growth and versatility. Yes, fun to stretch and explore. Go Bill.

This is fabulous.I'm always drawn to grungy things and the colours really provide atmosphere. I really must try oils again - you inspire me.

Thanks for all the comments on this painting everyone. I appreciated all the thoughts.

Techno - "artsy and funky", I like that.

Mick - Let's just say that about 85% of the painting was done without use of brushes or knives. ;)

Vicente - Thanks, I always appreciate your input.

William - I try to stretch every day. If not, I might pull something while painting. :) Actually, I do love to keep myself just outside my comfort zone. It's exciting and new all the time.

Chad - Jim Croce said, "If you dig it, do it! If you dig it a lot, do it twice." I'll probably tackle something similar soon. Maybe on a larger scale.

Faye - Hi! Me, you and Rhonda never did get together to plein air paint this summer. Maybe a cold, snowy day this winter?

Fizisk - Glad you like!

Chrissy - Always a pleasure to have you visiting. Thanks for the comment.

Liz - Thanks. Different is good...sometimes... ;)

Melanie - Appreciate it!

Gillian - Thanks. I might expand and try different mediums some day. Pretty happy with oils right now though. :)

Ed - Hi. This one is 16 x 20"

Thanks Bill. I could say it was an experiment, but seems that each new painting session is an experiment of sorts.

I like this...deliciously cold..hopelessly empty. Vacant! A most unusual painting.
