Self Portrait 11-10-14

Here is the second small painting of the morning. I haven't done a self portrait in a while. I like this one, seems to get the moment across. The good thing with using myself as a model is that my feelings don't get hurt when I paint honestly.

Experimenting this morning. Always fun and interesting to see what comes out when it doesn't matter.

Self Portrait 11-29-12 - Zorn Palette

Did this quick self portrait this morning before work. About an hour painting time. Used a Zorn type palette of Ivory Black, Golden Ochre, Quinacridone Red, and Titanium White. I like working with this limited palette. Very rich looking colors.

Fun with #8 flat

This was a fun one with a larger bristle brush. I'll get a better pic when it dries.

2 Hour Head Study (mine)

Did this quick study today. I've been drawing so many portraits in charcoal lately that I thought I'd add some color. So I picked my cheapest model and let the paint fly.

All Tied Up

The state of my beard was due to my 9 year old daughter's sense of humor. Including a detail shot of th eyes and nose.

Here's after another 30 minutes. I think it's getting somewhere, just not sure of where.

Self Portrait - Finished

Here's the final product. About 3 hours painting time. I know it's not to some folks taste, but I feel it's one of my strongest yet.
