Here's the other painting I did for the other volunteer house mom at the Esther House. If anyone has seen this little guy running around near Edmonton, Kentucky please let us know.

Sharon's House

I painted this one the other day. It's a gift for one of the volunteer house moms at the Esther House, a non-profit home for battered women and their children, that my wife Kelly founded and operates.

Cows in the Meadow

I know it looks like I haven't been working by my lack of posts recently, but I assure you I have. Been working on a couple of Christmas things that I just can't spoil yet. I did get around to finishing this piece this morning though. I'm adding a few detail shots to show the cows, distant treeline and sky. This was painted from a ref pic I took down near Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

Thanks for looking. It's always a pleasure to have you visit. Merry Christmas!

After The Rain

Painted this one from a photograph I took earlier today near Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park in Cumberland County, Kentucky. As always, I took some liberties with color and composition.

Thanks for looking.

Vermont Valley

Here's one I just finished. Included are a few pics while it was in progress. If you look closely, you'll see many changes made along the way. The most prominant change is the direction of the stream.

LA Reds

...and now, for something completely different.

If I keep pushing myself I might get to my destination someday. This painting is one that had me out of my comfort zone from the get go.

Worked on this one the past few days using techiniques I normally don't use. It was quite fun.

Hawaii - Last of the State Series (Finally)

Google released their Street Views of Hawaii a couple of weeks ago, which means I finally get to finish the Street View State Series (on the blog) (on the website). I had substituted Washington DC for Hawaii back in April of this year. So it's nice to officially end that one.

I'd like to have a small show somewhere displaying all the paintings together if that's possible. If not, I'll probably start piecing the paintings out. Sure would like to sell the group as a whole though. ;-)

The Oceanaire

Here's a painting I finished tonight. It shows a building in Denver called The Oceanaire. I really liked the looks of the building along with the ability to bring prospective into play with this one.

Thanks for looking.

Idaho Springs - New Series?

Hello everyone, and thanks for visiting. I love doing these small knife paintings. You've heard that before. I've done the State Series, the Lower 9th Ward Series, a few from Denver that I'm not sure constitutes a series (yet), and now I've started working my way up into the mountains west of Denver.

I lived in Colorado for a decade and it still holds something dear to my heart. I've been traveling around with Street View into the old mining towns that line I-70, and have found some of the architecture that I always loved. A kind of Victorian meets heavy snow mountains meets utilitarian mining meets a longing for culture in a wilderness.

I think I'll hang in the mountains a bit and see what develops. Thanks for looking. Comments are always most welcome.

Pecos Street, Denver

I seem to be drawn (no pun inteneded) to railroad crossing scenes without trains. I'm sure a good psychoanalyst could tell me why. I think it's the starkness. The general dirtiness. Who knows... :)

Derbigny Street

Here's a 20" x 24" I just finished. Trying to take the simplified nature of the small knife paintings to a larger level. I think it's close.

The 101

Here's one I've worked on for a few days. Of course, now that I've signed it and took all the pictures of it, there are things I see that I'll probably change. But...it's close.

Thanks for looking. Adding some detail, before and after, pics.

Below is a detail of a little extra work. Just suggesting the buildings in the distance, helping to solidify the location. Which, by the way, is near the Los Angeles City College.
