Pecos Street, Denver

I seem to be drawn (no pun inteneded) to railroad crossing scenes without trains. I'm sure a good psychoanalyst could tell me why. I think it's the starkness. The general dirtiness. Who knows... :)

Derbigny Street

Here's a 20" x 24" I just finished. Trying to take the simplified nature of the small knife paintings to a larger level. I think it's close.

Not much to say about this one. All palette knife. Thick paint in places. Lots of fall color.

Thanks for looking. Detail shots included.

The 101

Here's one I've worked on for a few days. Of course, now that I've signed it and took all the pictures of it, there are things I see that I'll probably change. But...it's close.

Thanks for looking. Adding some detail, before and after, pics.

Below is a detail of a little extra work. Just suggesting the buildings in the distance, helping to solidify the location. Which, by the way, is near the Los Angeles City College.

N. Robertson St. - NOLA Series - #3

Here's my latest in the New Orleans Lower 9th Ward series I'm doing using Google Street View scenes as references. I think I'm closer to the look and feel I'm after with this one. How many times do I have to say "simplify" to myself before I can actually get it?

Larne, Northern Ireland

Finished this one up before work this morning. Loved playing with the textures and colors in this one. Still fairly subdued, but hopefully the point comes across.

NOLA - Lower 9th Ward Series - #1

I've been thinking for some time about starting a series of small knife paintings based on the views I find through Google Street View in the area of New Orleans called the Lower 9th Ward. As most people know, this was one area hit devastatingly hard during Hurricane Katrina, and the resulting flooding caused by broken levees.

I've picked ten views on which to base the paintings. I seriously doubt that anyone will look at any of these paintings and proclaim their beauty. That's okay.

Two for Lunch

This one is mostly palette knife work. Constantly trying to push myself, and trying hard to simplify details.

Adding a few detail shots. Thanks for looking.

Dana Point Surf

Tried a square format with this one. This is also all painting knives. The beach view is of Dana Point, California, and the sky is from my head. I'm going to have to try and photograph this one as a whole again at some point. The pic didn't turn out well at all. Including some details shots. Thanks for looking.
