Rain Gauge

I had a small window of rainless opportunity just after a soccer orientation meeting this evening to try and get some outdoor painting accomplished. This one was about 45 minutes with only the soles of my shoes getting wet.

So, a quick one with the knife. If anyone had seen me while painting they would have thought me a mad man.

8" x 10", oil on mounted canvas, palette knife, comments always welcome.

Bill- 45 minutes to produce something this filled with life has to be a direct result of your intense dedication to your pursuit over the past 50 states!
I heartily applaud your series as well as your idea of Googles' permission to use Streetview for creative ends.

If there was ever proof of what painting every day does to improve your skills, you've just verified it.

Congratulations on a great body of work and for being an inspiring painter.

Hi Bonnie. Thanks so much for the kind words. I love painting and the pursuit to get better.

The loose direction these knife paintings are taking me is very exciting. Someone described this one as organic, which I can definitely see.

I'm slowly getting past the point of trying to put in all the detail, and instead happy with squinting and laying down the color I see.

Wow, that time limit didn't matter. Fantastic! The fast marks are perfect for the rushing water. Love it!

Thanks Liz. I was moving pretty fast on this one.
