45 minute lunch painting

No, not of my lunch, but of me again. I'm including to additional pics, the first is the sketch after 5 minutes, the next is the painting after 30 minutes, and the last is after an additional 15 minutes. Gotta go back to work!

Familiar Ground

Painted this one this morning before work on location. A quick 45 minute exercise.

One Hour Self-Portrait

I know everyone is probably getting extremely tired of these self-portraits, but I think I'm learning a lot from them. I bought a bunch of Fredrix canvas panels that were inexpensive, and so far absolutely hate the coarse weave. So I tried adding another layer of gesso to smooth it out some. This is one. I like it better.

Rylea Beth quick sketch

Started this one at lunch, and painted until two loud explosions and power outage stopped me. Don't know what happened, but I do know it was close. Finished up this afternoon after work. About an hour to an hour and a half total time.

Me Again (sorry)

Sorry to bore you all with pics of myself, but I've got the portrait bug and it won't let go. If my sweetie would ever come home I'll paint her for you. ;)

Got my daughter to sit for me this afternoon after church. She lasted a while, longer than I thought she would.

Slough Re-Do

Here's an updated version of the Slough with Trees painting that you can see a couple of posts back. I took the chainsaw out and got rid of the light valued tree. I like it much better now. Let me know what you think.

The Aged (that would be me)

Tomorrow's my birthday. 46. Did this quick self-portrait today. Started before work, worked a little on it at lunch, and played with it tonight some.

Canoeing the Harpeth

Here's a small quick one I did from a photograph from a canoe trip a few years ago. That's me and Tony in the near canoe, and Doug and Joe in the background canoe. Notice that both Doug and Joe both seem to be paddling, the planets must be aligned or something. One is usually napping.

Rylea Beth Reading

Here's another quick one. This is of my daughter Rylea Beth, reading. One of her favorite past-times. This was the limited Zorn palette again, and was my first time painting a figure from life (except when looking in a mirror).

9" x 12", oil on linen

45 minute gesture self portrait

Did this one at lunch today using a Zorn palette, which consists of only four colors, White, Ivory Black, Cadmium Red Light and Yellow Ochre. Took about 45 minutes. Just trying to get the essentials, although I still fiddled too much. 9" x 12", oil

Industrial Light

Here's one that I've played with for a couple of days. Another exercise in simplifying and texture. Adding a detail shot of the royal mess in the background. ;)
