Creek Study

I went out today into a mixture of snow flurries, sleet and rain to paint. I found this subject just waiting for me in a section of woods behind and above my sister's house. I also found quite a bit of mud at the same location. ;)

Will probably paint this one larger at some point. I took some good ref pics while there, and the simple act of being there and painting has stuck the scene and atmosphere into my mind. So larger might work with this one.

I used an umbrella today, which I don't normally do, but I needed to protect the canvas and palette. Including a pic of the set-up and subject.

Thanks Frank. This one felt really good, despite the conditions. When I started with my shadow areas, just roughing them in, I liked it.

I appreciate the comments.

Nice plug for Walmart, Bill! (I kid, I kid...but since I work there and have to touch those danged bags constantly, I noticed.) You are a trouper! It couldn't have been much fun being rained on while you worked. But the results show it was more than worth it! I love this little spring and mini waterfall. The colors you've chosen are just sublime for setting the mood and tone of this beautiful painting! I also wonder what this little spot will look like in the spring?...
