Ship's Store

The building is called the Ship's Store, though it is sitting on a large lake for this area, there are hardly any ships here. Mostly houseboats and ski boats. Including a couple of pics of my set-up with the darks laid in on toned canvas.

9" x 12", oil on canvas mounted on masonite, palette knife

damn, you're good.
:-)
You made sense of so much information in that scene so beautifully.

Bill!

The thing I love most about this one is that you changed up the colors of the actual building in the foreground.

The warmer tones work so much better in the painting than if you used the cool blues and grays that were there in real life.

Very detailed too!

:) Thanks Liz. The amount of detail that was before me was daunting to say the least. I tried to simplify but still leave a sense of the space.

Thanks Dean. The weather was rainy and slightly chilly that day, so I did purposely try to warm the scene. Glad it worked.
