Just finished the sketch on this one. From a reference photograph of the artist N.C. Wyeth in front of his painting "Round-Up", using a model who is seated on a saddle. This one will be interesting to see if I can pull it off. Definitely the most difficult to date.
I don't usually post works in progress. But as my painting time in the past few, and the next few, days are limited, I thought I'd post what I started yesterday. I hope to finish it before the end of the weekend.
~~ Well, I think he's finished. Would like to hear any comments anyone may have.
This was painted using an Edward Curtis photograph from 1905 as a reference. It depicts Pose-a Yew, a Nambe Indian Brave. I don't know the story of this Brave, but the look he conveys, appears to me as one of defeat, hence the name of the painting.
Here is my latest featuring a Native American. This was painted using an old photograph taken by Edward Curtis. I'm including a couple of detail shots.
