This painting is my last of 2015, and is, in fact, painting #322 for me for the year. I need a nap.
This is a small painting I did for next month's Virtual Paintout.

300th Painting of 2015
300th Painting of 2015
I certainly didn't plan on painting 300 paintings in 2015. It really never crossed my mind. I actually painted more, but the 300 I speak of were recorded on my blog. A great way to keep track of things. In fact, you can go to my blog and look at each month individually if you want to see the progression of this year. Look down to the right under "Blog Archive."

How did I accomplish this feat while working a full time, 40 hour per week job as a graphic designer at the local newspaper? While having family time? While teaching classes? And doing everything else life has for us to do every day?
By making myself get up before 5 a.m. every day, getting to the studio by about 6 a.m., and getting at least 2 hours paint time before work. By going to the studio on my lunch hour. By getting to the easel on class night a couple of hours before anyone shows up. By spending the weekend in the studio/gallery painting and talking to clients and visitors.
I tell people all the time that I get up early and paint, "even if I don't want to." I can honestly say I have a work ethic. I must be growing up.
