Shack

Here's a quick almost abstract landscape of a small building. All knife work.

Bluff View

I had a great time painting on the edge of a bluff that overlooks the Cumberland River and the Bakerton, Kentucky area today. The bluff drops a few hundred feet to the river below. Pretty cool to watch hawks flying below you.

Trooper Island 2

My girls and I went down to the swimming area at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park today. LOTS of folks swimming, lots of boats and ski-doos in the water. Gotta be pushing 100 degrees today. The girls swam while I painted.

This is a view of Troopers Island that's just across the main body of the lake.

Tree Landscape in Spring

Painted at the park this morning before the heat really set in. This was about 2 hours work on site.

Country Vineyard

Another great day of painting at Up The Creek Winery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. I liked the look of the toned canvas for the sky, so left it. ;)

Repair Shop and Garden Spot

Painted this on location this morning. I was set up right next to a two lane blacktop road on top of Modoc Hill in Cumberland County, Kentucky. BMW riders are in town this weekend, must have had 100 pass by as I was painting. I wonder if they could hear me singing along to The Last Waltz by The Band on my iPod?

I left the bean poles out, but am contemplating adding them in.

Cumberland River 2

This is a small painting I did for a benefit coming up on Saturday, May 12 for Danny Allen. Danny was my daughter's 5th grade teacher until he had to take a medical leave early in the school year. Danny has been diagnosed with brain cancer, and has endured both chemo and radiation treatments over the past several months.

The benefit on Saturday will be held at the local city park and includes many activities, including, softball tournament, volleyball tournament, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments, bouncy houses, 5k run, and more. There will also be an auction at the high school that night. This painting will be in the auction along with lots of other items. Be sure to come out on Saturday and support Danny and his family!

Blackberry Plants at Up The Creek Winery

I like this start. I call it a start because I have to tweak it here and there. But I feel good about it so far. The blackberries are coming in great with the hot weather here, and the grapes that you can see to right now have a good foothold on the season. Worked on it outside for about 3 and a half to 4 hours. I love this farm and winery. I can foresee many paintings on this land. Thanks to Gary for allowing me access.

Oak and a painting partner

I had the pleasure of painting outside with my 10 year old daughter today. It was her first foray into oils. I think she had fun. Kids sure do tire easy these days though. I went about an hour and a half longer than she did. ;) We had a good time, and I hope to do it again soon.
