Farmland No. 100

I have hit the 100th painting mark in this series and don't feel bored, or finished, with it yet. Over the past 8 months I have used a lot of canvas, paint and energy working on these paintings. Some flow easily off the tip of the brush, while others have to be chiseled out again and again. There have been blood, sweat, and tears, literally, at times.

I have no idea where this series is taking me; in terms of style, working methods, career, etc. but I am extremely grateful that you, my friends, are along for the ride.

Farmland No. 99

This painting started with an aerial view of the Southern Ute Reservation in the southern part of Colorado. It took the same path as a lot of this series. I draw in the shapes I want and then totally obliterate them. I find, lose, and find again.

I'm including a few detail shots from the painting as most of the detail gets lost when viewing a photo of the entire thing.

Sycamore and Grist Mill

Painted outside today.  Worked through a couple of downpours. Pay no attention to the damp look and the blinding white legs (it's still early in Spring, gimme a break.)

Here's a small collage painting I did. I've been working so large that it's pretty fun doing a little one for a change.
